I have tried very hard to attach my music theory composition onto this post, but it would only work if you had that particular program on your device.
This final music theory composition, he had to write a standard ABA piano piece. 48 measures. Simple enough.
Ah, but this project has been the death of me. Hours have gone by without even noticing a change in time. It is crazy how you can lose yourself so easily into something. I often think a composition tells a story and my story had changed during every single page. The book I started with was something very different than what I ended with. But that is the best work.
It’s fun being able to hear something you thought up. But it’s painful at the same time, the sacrifices you make for tonality. But enough of that fancy dancey terminology.
My piece is titled “Unexpected Adventures”. It tells a story of being lost. But this isn’t a scary story, not one bit! Being lost and not exactly wanting to be found. The things you can discover unexpectedly! Amusement is learning and prospering with the memories. Like I said, writing music is just like writing fiction. Of course there are no details, only main ideas.
When writing music, you must pick an emotion for your story. Is it going to be a march, happy and lively! Short and fast! Or could it be sad and solemn. Are you going to be major (happiness to the ear) or could it be minor (mysterious and displeasing)? Afterwards, listening to your own production, you feel a sense of pride. Something your worked hours on is finally completed, not to be tampered with any longer.
Music I theory is not fun and I would not like anyone to get the idea that it has been an overall pleasant experience. But there is some light at the end of the tunnel. I have learned a lot about not only music theory, but also story writing.
I had been wanting to look into this this film for quite some time. The reviews looked promising and I thought it would be an enlightening, uplifting, life-changing movie. However, I was wrong. I should have known. This movie did not make it to theaters and it rightfully belongs under the free movies section. The story line was cliche and unreal. I thought the purpose of this movie would be the bring attention to a rapid growing problem. But this movie had given a false idea of what cyberbullying was.
First of all, the main character was Emily Osment. She is gorgeous, gorgeous hair, perfect clothes. I know looks shouldn’t matter but they couldn’t find an actor that looked like an actual person who might attend high school?
Second, the way she started to be bullied was also far fetched. It wasn’t because she was weird or she dressed a certain way. It was all an accident. And I completely agree, they could be saying that it’s possible for anybody to be bullied. But this is beyond the point.
In the end, she goes up to the bully and tells her to stop and she runs away and it’s a happy ending and all the kids who used to make fun of her online now don’t because the “queen bee” is gone and the internet is safe.
This movie left me with nothing to take out that I didn’t already know. Yes, you should tell an adult. That’s about it. I had seen many movies like it before. Nothing special.
Three days and counting until my audition for ISU school of music. I have put numerous hours into practicing saxophone and my piano piece. I sacrificed weekends and free periods during school. Hoping all this hard work finally pays off, I am so very nervous!
This will be the last chance for me to practice during school and I can surely say I am prepared.
This is my first arrangement of music! It was originally written for piano but I transposed it for the 6th grade saxophone class I teach. Some of the fun music I write for them for Fridays to kick off the end of the week.
Fight Club was on my list of movies to watch over winter break. It’s one of those films that leave you confused and perplexed when it ends. Usually if I have time, I will rematch the movie and look for hidden clues I missed this first time. Sometimes I will google reviews and other peoples articles about the movies meaning.
If you have never seen fight club, I high recommend it. Stop reading this and go watch it. Now.
If you have seen it, then you have witnessed one of the most self-realizing movies of all time. I think this movie says a lot of society and people. I was very confused throughout the entire thing until the very end, when it was made less confusing. Again, you will have to rewatch this film again in order to really understand.
Anyways, I probably shouldn’t be talking about this too much.
But if you want more insight, this is a great article about the true meaning. http://www.libertariannews.org/2012/08/11/ive-been-having-trouble-writing-lately/
“You are not your job. You are not how much you have in the bank. You are not the contents of your wallet. You are not your khakis. You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake. What happens first is you can’t sleep. What happens then is there’s a gun in your mouth. And what happens next is you meet Tyler Durden. Let me tell you about Tyler. He had a plan. In Tyler we trusted. Tyler says the things you own, end up owning you. It’s only after you’ve lost everything that you’re free to do anything. Fight Club represents that kind of freedom. First rule of Fight Club: You do not talk about Fight Club. Second rule of Fight Club: You do not talk about Fight Club. Tyler says self-improvement is masturbation. Tyler says self-destruction might be the answer.”
(This was the summary from the google page)FCC
Freddie Mercury (lead singer of the band Queen) was not only a great performer and singer, but a great songwriter too. His lyrics spoke to me on new levels, I used them as a personal bible. Performances consisted of glitter, consumes, and capes; raging with Freddie’s own unique personality. His singing range was nearly 4 octaves and felt like heaven to listen to.
In my books, he is a legend. Everything about him screams rebellion and being different. He wasn’t scared to be who he was. And he had an amazing mustache.
Can you name one person who doesn’t know nearly all the lyrics to Bohemian Rhapsody?
Tell me you can’t sit still while listening to “I Want to Break Free”!!
What sports team hasn’t listened to “We Are the Champions” after a big game?
“The awesomeness of Freddie even inspired the Swiss to build a statue of him. Every year hundreds of thousands of fans make a pilgrimage there to eat the sweet piece of pie that is the same shape and consistency that Freddie is on the pie chart of modern society. These pieces look much like Pacman with a closed mouth because Freddie Mercury isn’t just part of society. Freddie Mercury is the society.”
(That fact is from http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Freddie_Mercury)
If you can look me in the eye and tell me that isn’t freaking awesome, there is probably something wrong with you. He has fans after so many years of being dead. Now when’s the last time you heard the song “Call me Maybe?”
Yeah, that’s what I thought.
This man is a legend and if you don’t know who he is, I highly recommend some research. (Just in case you needed proof of his awesome-ness)
Over winter break I had plenty of free time so I decided to watch movies. (By the way, if you are looking for an awesome site that let’s you watch movies for free, muchmovies.org is great)
So of course I went through that list of movies that I have been meaning to watch and have just never gotten too. Fight Club was awesome, Top Gun was really good, the list goes on. As I finished up my list I started watching movies I’ve never heard of. One particular movie (which will remain nameless), really caught my attention. This movies was the most basic set up for a gushy, happy ending romance movie. The girl is dating a douche bag (my blog, my language) and she finally sees the light and dates the main character. It’s her birthday and he saved up all this money to buy her a nice necklace. He gets to the party and she’s making out with the douche ex-boyfriend…………. And then the movie ends
just like that
and I think that can really tell us a lot of things about life. Sometimes stories don’t always have happy endings. Or maybe not all love is true love.
At first I was pretty upset I wasted 2 hours for and ending like that but I slowly realized that it’s completely genius. I mean everyone needs to watch a movie and then get punched in the face, ya Know.
